It all starts with disrespect. Let someone disrespect you — don’t stand up for yourself right away — and it escalates to teasing and rumors or even physical abuse. But it all falls under same category: Bullying. By organizing Students Against Being Bullied (S.A.B.B.), I along S.A.B.B. members hope to change the culture of bullying in my High School and across the state of New Jersey by stopping it before it starts.
I am the founder of S.A.B.B.and every single day I am informed of students that are suffering at the hands of bullies, there ages range from Kindergarten up. The State of New Jersey has put in place the toughest laws on the topic of Anti-Bullying. We cannot allow these news laws to simply be words on paper. We must empower ourselves, the victims, the bystanders, the administration of our schools, the faculty and staff of our schools, the parents of our children, that bullying must end. This can longer be the issue that is whispered about. We must unite, spread the word, and stand unified in our efforts to fight this growing epidemic. Now, is the time to band together, we cannot afford to lose any more of our future at the hands of Bullycide in cases such as Tyler Clementi and Phoebe Prince, Jared High, and Ryan Halligan. We can do this... We can make and be the difference... I want to hear your voice! Who is with me?
